These are the terms for using Groom Buddy. By using the app you agree to them. We tried to write them the way we would want to read them. Our privacy policy covers what we collect and is part of the deal too.
Buddy is a coach, not a vet
Groom Buddy is an educational tool. Buddy's answers are generated by AI from grooming curriculum and reference material, and AI can be wrong. Buddy is not a veterinarian and does not give medical advice. You are the one with your hands on the dog: you are responsible for the animal's safety and your own, and for using sharp tools, dryers, and products carefully. If a dog seems hurt, sick, or unsafe, stop and get a person: a vet, your instructor, or a senior groomer. Never rely on Buddy in an emergency.
Using Buddy
You sign in with your email. Use a real address you control, and keep your access to yourself. You must be at least 13 to use Buddy. If you joined with a school code, your school's own rules apply on top of these.
Membership and billing
Parts of Buddy are free to try. A paid membership is billed monthly through Stripe at the price shown at checkout, and your subscription renews every month until you cancel. We send you an email before each renewal. If a price ever changes we will tell you in advance by email, and founding members keep their founding price for as long as their subscription stays active.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel anytime from the Membership section in Buddy's Den. Cancelling stops the next renewal: you keep access through the month you already paid for, and we don't prorate partial months. If something went wrong and you think you shouldn't have been charged, email us and we'll sort it out.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no breaking in, no scraping or reselling Buddy's answers as your own product, no flooding it with automated requests, and nothing illegal. We can suspend access that puts the service or other users at risk.
Your content and ours
The photos, questions, and dog details you send stay yours. You give us permission to process them to run and improve the service, as described in the privacy policy. The app itself, including its design, code, and Buddy's character, belongs to us. School curriculum belongs to the school that owns it.
What we promise, and what we can't
Groom Buddy is an early product, provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we can't guarantee it will always be right, online, or bug free, and we make no warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty dollars, whichever is greater. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, USA. If we ever have a dispute, please email us first so we can try to fix it like people.
Changes
If these terms change, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and email you if the change actually matters.
